# 🪝 Data Silos

Data silos refer to the isolated storage and management of data, which restricts the free flow and sharing of information. The root cause of this problem is the inconsistency in data authentication, which raises concerns over the legality and privacy of data, while failing to provide adequate incentives for sharing. This not only hampers decision-making by limiting access to comprehensive datasets, but also stalls AI innovation by creating barriers to the flow of information, all while heightening security and compliance risks.

To break down data silos, a unified data authentication standard is essential. This requires cross-regional and cross-organizational collaboration, supported by compatible technological solutions and advanced data management practices. However, such a system cannot be built within the constraints of a Web 2 environment.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://tagger.gitbook.io/tagger-documentation/challenges-in-the-current-data-economy/data-silos.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
